Pokhara News. The future of the students of Pokhara University faces uncertainity as the posts of major administration officers have been vacant since past 11 months.
Pokhara University, that runs faculties of humanities, health and population, science and technology, management and affiliates about 63 different colleges throughout the country, is without Vice Chancellor and Registrar since last August. Pradip Poudel, student of engineering seventh semester at PU, complained that the future of students of different faculties studying at Pokhara University and students of various affiliated colleges has grown uncertain as they couldn’t give their exams on time. He said that his 4 year long course has already lengthened by a year and still the exam schedules remain out of sight.
Friday, frustrated students studying at Pokhara University held a protest program infront of District Administration Office, Kaski and handed over a memorandum to DAO. The students demanded Chancellor of University, Prime Minister to appoint the Vice-Chancellor as soon as possible. They staged demonstrations in front of the administration with playcards that displayed different slogans.
Arjun Parajuli, a participant of protest said that the position of vice chancellor has been vacant since Chiranjeevi Sharma, former vice-chancellor completed his tenure and Engineer Buddhiraj Joshi and Professor Dr Indra Prasad Tiwari completed two tenures as acting vice-chancellor.
Sristi Joshi, student of computer engineering, complained that they were not able to conduct online classes as well. She also informed that the graduation ceremony also could not be held. Almost 40 thousand students of Pokhara University and its affiliated colleges are affected due to vacant positions in administration.
